The Department of Communication has a thriving presence in Asia at the Utah Asia Campus
(UAC). Established in 2014, the UAC is housed in the university's own recently-completed
nine-story building in Songdo City, South Korea. All the essentials of a top-tier
undergraduate experience are here, including classrooms, computer laboratories, student
services, and dormitories.
Along with three other universities, the UAC makes up the Incheon Global Campus (IGC).
Students attending the UAC interact not only with fellow Korean students, but with
students and faculty from around Asia and beyond.
The Utah Asia Campus is located on reclaimed land in Songdo, which is a "city of the
future" developed with 40% green space. Wide streets, walkways and bicycle paths
complement an efficient public transportation system leading to residential areas,
businesses, and world-class shopping, and is a short 25 minutes to the Seoul Airport
(ICN). From there, top destinations like Japan and China a just a couple of hours
away. Tropical destinations like Vietnam, the Philippines, Cambodia, Thailand, and
Taiwan are within easy reach.
Four-Year Program of Study
Two communication programs, Journalism and Strategic Communication, are offered at the Utah Asia Campus. Communication students initiating study at
the UAC spend the first two semesters fulfilling general education requirements.
Four additional semesters are spent at the UAC in program-specific courses and electives.
To round out the global educational experience, two semesters are spent on the Salt
Lake City campus. A Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science is available for either
