Advising Team Presents at 2019 Region 9 and 10 NACADA Conference

The Department of Communication Advising Team, Travis Ciaramella, Stephanie Krusell, and Cameron Vakilian presented in Honolulu, Hawaii last week in collaboration with advisors from the International Studies Program, Ashley Glenn and Christy Hoffman for the 2019 Region 9 and 10 NACADA (National Academic Advisor’s Association) Conference. Their presentation, “The Power of Check-In: Collecting Data through an Intentional Process” was well received, educating participants on innovative assessment practices and advising theories. This presentation was selected among a competitive field of proposals for the conference with over 600 attendees. Amity Mower, graduate advisor for the department, also joined the team of advisors in attendance of the conference.  NACADA – The Global Community for Academic Advising, “aspires to be the premier global association for the development and dissemination of innovative theory, research, and practice of academic advising in higher education.” This year, Region 10, (AZ, CO, NM, UT, and WY) combined with Region 9 (CA, HI, and NV) for the regional conference in Hawaii.
