U Alum Celebrates 40 Years of Service

Reverend France Davis, an alum of the University of Utah's Communication Department, is celebrating 40 years of service as the pastor of the Calvary Baptist Church here in Salt Lake City.

Rev. Davis received his master's degree in Mass Communication back in 1978, and has worked as a faculty member at the U since the early 1970s. He currently works in the Ethnic Studies department and is scheduled to retire at the end of the semester.

His congregation members say Rev. Davis serves as an example, having marched with Dr. Martin Luther King and spent his life serving his community.
