Dr. Suhi Choi Promoted to Professor

SALT LAKE CITY, UT - Dr. Suhi Choi has been promoted to the rank of Professor in the Department of Communication at the University of Utah. 

Dr. Choi currently serves as the Associate Chair of the department, focusing her efforts on refugee engagement and creating a stronger connection between the University Asia Campus and main campus.

Dr. Choi is also the author of two books: Right to Mourn: Trauma, Empathy, and Korean War Memorials (Oxford University Press, 2019) and Embattled Memories: Contested Meanings in Korean War Memorials (University of Nevada Press, 2014). She is currently working on her third book that presents an iconoclastic critique on Korean War Veterans Memorial in Washington DC. 

She has taught several courses for the department on memory perspectives, even having the opportunity to teach in Israel as a Fulbright specialist. In recent years, she has worked to bring critical trauma studies and grief communication to both the undergraduate and graduate curriculum of the department.
