At the first tournament, the team competed in individual events and debate, facing competition from twenty colleges and universities. Among the other institutions in attendance were the University of Florida, the University of Colorado at Boulder, the United States Air Force Academy, and San Diego State University. Among the team’s many accomplishments, senior Jose Soto and sophomore Chris De Freitas went undefeated on their way to a first place finish in parliamentary debate.
