Debate Society Opens 2017-'18 Season by Winning Top Honors
The John R. Park Debate Society traveled to Colorado Springs, Colorado to open its competitive season with top honors at the Al Johnson Memorial Invitational hosted by Colorado College.
At the first tournament, the team competed in individual events and debate, facing competition from twenty colleges and universities. Among the other institutions in attendance were the University of Florida, the University of Colorado at Boulder, the United States Air Force Academy, and San Diego State University. Among the team’s many accomplishments, senior Jose Soto and sophomore Chris De Freitas went undefeated on their way to a first place finish in parliamentary debate. The team will look to build on these early results next month when it travels to Reno, Nevada for the Biggest Little City Classic hosted by the University of Nevada.
