Kim Kaphingst awarded the Distinguished Research Award
Kim Kaphingst, Professor and Associate Chair of the Communication Department, received
the Distinguished Research Award due to the impact and significance of her research
and scholarly work in the health communication field. Additionally, her research was
found to aid in the improvement and enrichment of the human condition. She has done
significant research on the responses to and the return of genetic test results, providing
disease risk information. Throughout this research she has been interested in web-based
and mHealth approaches to providing risk information and decision support. Her dedication
to research and understanding the human condition around genetic risk factors have
been instrumental in pushing her field forward. She recieved this award based on these
factors and nominations from her fellow faculty members. This is a prestigious award,
providing funding for future research to three University of Utah Faculty members.
She will be recognized at this year's Commencement Ceremony on May 2nd at 6pm.
