Performing Her Name: A Colloquium Talk
Dr. Logan Rae Gomez will be hosting a colloquium talk on April 18th from 3:30-5pm in the Edna Anderson-Taylor Communication Institute titled: Performing Her Name: Counterstorytelling Possibilities of the Future–Now.
This presentation highlights the rhetorical significance of imagining possibility in the aftermath of police violence. To do so, Dr. Logan Rae Gomez analyzes a staged reading performance, #SayHerName: The Lives that Should Have Been, as a counterstory that realizes the possibilities of re-imagining continued life through (1) the mundaneness of everyday and (2) the performance of overlapping tempo(realities). The Say Her Name performance illustrates the possibilities of interrupting antiblack police violence from moment to moment
