Robin Jensen Receives NCA Karl Wallace Memorial Award

Robin JensenDr. Robin Jensen has been awarded the NCA Karl R. Wallace Memorial Award. The award is “given to foster and promote philosophical, historical, or critical scholarship in rhetoric and public discourse.”

It is given to “scholars who have completed the Ph.D. within the past 10 years or who are well advanced in doctoral studies in rhetoric and public address.” Dr. Robin Jensen was chosen from a large pool of highly competitive applicants for her remarkable record of research, and to support the completion of her current book manuscript, entitled Infertility: A Rhetorical History, which is currently under advanced contract with Pennsylvania State University Press.

The award committee commented that Jensen’s research “interrogating narratives regarding women’s reproductive capacity…will engage a key site of historical and contemporary contestation.” Furthermore, the committee was impressed with “the kind of careful attention” that Dr. Jensen is giving to “the historical, critical, theoretical, and social importance of narratives associated with fertility and infertility in the United States.”
