Voices of Utah to Celebrate Ten Year Anniversary

Next week The Department of Communication will proudly celebrate the 10th anniversary of Voices of Utah and their work throughout the semester. Students will be sharing work that has been a semester in the making on a wide range of topics with family, friends and those they have interviewed.

This semester, the class has focused on Salt Lake's refugee community. Each student has written three stories about a wide variety of topics, including Women of the World, the IRC's Breaking Bread event, the Refugee Justice League and VeggieRx, a fruits and vegetables prescription program.

Voices of Utah, now the course name for 5775, has been an ongoing project since Fall 2007. It was designed to give our students an opportunity to cover a diverse beat, practice multimedia storytelling, and obtain published clips for their portfolio. To date, 14 diverse communities have been covered, some more than once, and the site has had almost 130,000 visits by people throughout the world.

The event will be held in the Reading Room (LNCO 2120) on December 7 from 9:40-11:35 a.m.
