Advisors Cameron Vakilian and Travis Ciaramella to be Featured Presenters at National Academic Advising Conference

camerontravisAcademic Advisors Cameron Vakilian and Travis Ciaramella have been invited to present at the 2017 National Academic Advising Conference (NACADA) on behalf of the Department of Communication and the University of Utah. Their presentation, titled Internship Advising Strategies, will provide advisors with evidence and theory-based strategies to help students find and secure quality internships.

Travis and Cameron's presentation has also been selected for the honor of being advertised and supported as a commission-sponsored session, which means it is a featured and recommended session for conference participants because of its particular relevance to attendees.

They chose to focus on internship advising strategies because they have recognized that internship questions are common in academic advising appointments, but advisors are often quick to refer or dismiss their own abilities to help students in the process. Because advisors often receive announcements from employers looking to hire interns, they said this session will show participants how to organize and effectively vet these opportunities in accordance with NACE (National Association of Colleges and Employers) internship guidelines.

Cameron and Travis have demonstrated excellence in their academic advising for students in the Communication Department, and we are thrilled their work will be featured at this important national conference! The NACADA Conference will be held October 11-14, 2017, in St. Louis, Missouri. Learn more about NACADA and its annual conference here.

Cameron and Travis are available for undergraduate academic advising all year. Schedule an appointment to visit with them online here
