The John R. Park Debate Society competed in the International Forensics Association's 34th Annual Tournament & Conference
The John R. Park Debate Society competed in the International Forensics Association's 34th Annual Tournament & Conference on March 11-12, 2023 in Dublin, Ireland. The six students competing at the tournament were Willow Wilson, Adelyn Kobe, Courtney Hardie, Samantha Watrin, Maria Manousakis, and Meredith Jenkins. They appeared in nine elimination rounds, winning two events and placing 3rd overall at the tournament, outperforming Vanderbilt University, the United States Air Force Academy, Cornell, and Rutgers University, among the 41 programs in attendance.
Our Director of Forensics, Dr. Jeannie Hunt, is also the tournament director for the IFA Championship, running the event. Associate Dean of Humanities, Dr. Michael Middleton, is a member of the IFA Executive Committee and is a part of the tabulation staff at the tournament.
The team are concluding their Spring season by hosting the National Parliamentary Debate Tournament on March 15-17 on the University of Utah campus, and then traveling to Mt. Pleasant, Michigan for the National Forensics Association Championship Tournament on April 18-22.
